I feed 4 to 5% of Embers (puppy) approximated adult weight and the others get 2 to 4% of their ideal body weight, usually it is 2 to 3% however with winter I tend to feed a bit more so they gain a couple pounds to help keep them warm outside.
And I eyeball all of my dogs, if they look to thin I feed more and vice-versa.
Jesea is my anorexic child, however she is doing MUCH better after putting her on the Holistic Digestive Enzymes.

I'm new to feeding raw also, and not comfortable eye-balling yet. I'm currently feeding him 2.5% of his estimated adult body weight which comes out to 3 lbs. After I decided on an amount to feed, I went to Walmart and bought a cheap kitchen scale. I sit his feeding dish on it, zero it out and just pile in the meat until it hits close to half his daily ration. Then for the evening meal I do the same. If breakfast was more than half, I give a little less, and vica versa. I don't worry too much about getting it exact. This is working well for us, and my dog is doing great so far!
The prepared raw that I get comes in 2 lb packs. I split it between 2 meals. bayley weighs 55-60 lbs so that's 2% I may give her a bit more or a bit less, during the winter we don't go for as many long runs so I cut her back a bit. She's pretty good at letting me know if she's hungry too, if I put down her food and she ignores it, it goes back in fridge or if she eats everything and still seems hungry I'll give her some tripe with her next meal.
We live in warm weather all the time so I feed my dog 2% of the desired weight, we do not need extra pounds to keep him warm. In my opinion you should feel his ribcage slightly when you put your hands on him
I used this in my Culinary program and I liked it so much I have one for home and one for work.
Easy to use and takes any guess work out of measurements.
