Hi everyone,
Ok here is my thing, my pup which is 3 months old has an insecurity problem, here is what happens. When I go to a strange place i.e. local market and tie him up outside and go in he has no problem waiting for me outside 5 10 min even which is great. But if I do not go inside and say go around the corner he goes mad barking like he is being strangled. I have put some thought into this and I think I should stand like a foot away and praise/treat and move ever so slowly away adding distance as he progresses.... what do you all think?

I don't think it is a good idea to leave a young dog tied in a strange public place. You never know what might happen - he might get attacked by another dog, might get stolen, might bite a kid, someone might walk by and feed him chicken bones or chocolate bars. If I were you I would avoid doing this entirely.
If you do want to train him to be left alone tied in strange places, I would suggest starting after you have gotten very solid with the stay command, and using that (even if he is tied), so he knows what he is supposed to do. Come back very quickly to start and reward just like you would when training stay. Another step would be having strangers come by to give him hot dogs (but only when he is sitting, or he will learn to lunge at strangers) so he learns to be friendly when left alone.
Really though, I don't know where you live, but be careful leaving him alone, at least until he is older and soildly trained.
It sounds to me that this pup has learned that acting like he's being strangled will get him what he wants. He probably used to do the same thing when you went into the store, and then learned that it got him nowhere because you couldn't hear him. I would walk around the corner and let him cry himself out until he stops. Let him calm down a while before you come back and give him a treat. There are probably other options too, but this worked well for me.
Thanks guys,
I don't have to worry about leaving him alone, he is not really alone I am just around the corner, and people generally leave a barking dog alone...at least in my part of town. Jason, I think you may be right because it is the same thing for crate training, which took all of 1 day to do, think I will give that a go... thanks again for your advise.
