If you have a ecollar, you can save yourself from feeling the way I feel this morning if you follow the instructions. I have been using the ecollar for about 4 months now. The instructions say to change the location of the collar every 2 hours to prevent irritation caused by the posts. I was doing that at first but gradually it became longer before I would move it around. Today when I was scratching his neck I noticed a couple of tiny sores. They aren't kidding when the say every move it every couple of hours.
I wasn't going to post this at first because I feel embarrassed. I decided if it helps someone else from not feeling like crap it is probably worth it.

				Hi Lee,
Thanks for posting in spite of embarassment. How often does your dog wear the e-collar, and for how many hours at a time?

				Lee,
Thank you for posting that, and no need to feel embarrassed at all.
Now you know, and I am sure it will not happen again.
And your right, it will be a great learning experience for ALL of us that use e-collars.

I appreciate when people post their "oooops" moments here as well as their positive moments and questions. It goes to show that we are human and none of us are perfect when it comes to dogs.

(to be honest, I do not move my collars as much as I should either, but I will definitely start) Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter

				Hi Kristel,
I have it located properly high on the neck. I have the dvd. I opted for the longer post because I was having difficulty making contact with the short ones. Obviously I know now that makes it more important to rotate the ecollar. The time I was leaving it in the same spot gradually increased to about 4 hours. I was checking him regularly for any problems. The was none until this morning.

Been there done that...... 8 hours in the same spot. Look into buying the "24 hour contact pad". Its a thing that costs about $30 that replaces the 2 probes with a thingermajigger that can stay on for 24 hours without irritation.

Hi, Mike. The 24 hour pad is a good suggestion. I have one on my male and have had no problems. On my female who has a little more hair it rubbed her raw until i finally found the proper fit with a little trimming. You still need to check regularly. One thing I did notice is it was more effective. I had to lower the stim level a little.

				Hey Mike,
I bought that new ecollar collar that Ed is selling. What's another 30 bucks? Do you know what website has the pads. Nothing but the best for this dog. The wife freaks every time the Visa bill arrives.

Thanks Lee, good to know. I have a dog with a very short coat so I'm kinda paranoid! Thank you again for posting.
I bought the cinch-it collar to use with my e-collar and it's AWESOME. It's easy to adjust for a perfect fit, and it doesn't leave a long length of extra strap to flop around. It's worth the extra $$ just for the ease of adjustment! Yup; only da best .

My husband and I bought cinch-it colors for both our dogs. Cody has the pet companion e collar and the cinch-it was tuff to get through the little opening, but we worked at it and I am so glad we did. Cody is little (18 lbs) and the regular ecollar collars were way too big for him. We used the cinch it and it can be adjusted to just where we needed it, and works great! Our other dog Bindi she has a more powerful and larger dogtra ecollar and the cinch it was much easier to get through. We too enjoy the fact the big black collars extra length isn't flapping around and hanging down. We are glad Ed found out about this new product, we love it!!! And a silly side note, the colors of the cinch it are very pretty, Cody our male has blue and of course our Bindi female has pink!! ha!
Thanks for the tip about moving the ecollars around so they do not create irritation, sometimes I too get lazy, but so far nothing has happened, I too will be more diligent.
God bless
