Hi there, i've been browsing this site & have found some very useful information...actually better than some other sites out there. Yet i was wondering if i could tax someones brain on a subject i have yet to find.
MY dog was breed with a female & she is due her pups soon....this was all above board & agreed...the pups already have homes waiting for them & ours is one of those homes. However we are hoping to have a bitch pup (i know this may not happen) but if it does (& we have 2nd choice) then how do we bring my dogs "daughter" into the household? Will he take to her & know it's his bloodline or could we have problems?? Do you think its best to introduce them a few times before bringing her home?? Any help & advice on this would be appreicated. Thanks in advance
Welcome Donna! How is your dog when he meets other dogs or puppies? IMO he will not recognize the puppy as one of his own, she will just be another dog. It may be a good idea to have them meet a few times on neutral territory before bringing her home.
Have fun with the new puppy!
Hi Sandra. Thank you for your reply. My dog gets on fine with other dogs & he bumped into a pup the other day (10wks old) & all he wanted to do was play & so did the pup....they seemed to really get on. He has a problem with one of our neighbours dogs...but they went for him as a pup & now he dislikes them...but i keep on a lead when going past that property. I was thinking of getting them to meet in a local field (on leads) a few times & see how he reacts to the puppy. I believe he will get on fine as he loves all animals (we have 2 cats & a chicken in the garden) he likes them all & shares toys, play, treats etc. So i hoping he will take to the pup. Thanks for the advice
