So on this charming Sunday the dog discovered her food simply wasn't good enough and she decided to eat her dish.
It was a ceramic dish about 8 inches across and by the time I said what is the dog chewing on it was about a 4" x 4" section. So far, normal poops with bits of blue *chuckles* so I think she chewed well enough that I am out of the woods. *fingers crossed*.
Other than blockages and ripped up digestive systems can anyone think of anything else I should look for. I think lead poisoning shouldn't be an issue.
She doesn't have any cuts in her mouth??? (Wow, dogs do the weirdest things sometimes...LOL). Hope she is ok. I would have thought she'd cut her mouth if she chewed it up so thoroughly that she's passing really small pieces. Yikes
it depends on how good she is at chewing things..
my male will chew anything and he has such good control that he never hurts his mouth.
he at most of his bowl one day. i was at work pulling a 24 hour job and my dad had to feed him and left the bowl in his run...when i got home there was small pieces of the bowl left and he had no problems.
My wife tells me that if the glaze on ceramic bowls chips or wears off the underlying material, which is porous, can absorb the taste and smell of the food. That might be why the dog eats the bowl.

Well I do have metal dishes... they were all sadly in the dishwasher so I figured I'd just grab one of the indoor water dishes and use that. Oh silly me.
I looked in her mouth and nothing out of the usual.
Lesson learned... when feeding the dog either use taco salad bowls or metal pans. :P
