Does anyone know the breed demographics of these counties?????
I wonder, the fact that you see no small dogs in these lists, can that be attributed to the fact that those type of bites are not reported or taken seriously????????

"Terrier", "Mixed Breed", can be any size. JRT's are small dogs. So, there's not only large dogs on the list. I think a lot of these type lists are compiled from ER reports and dog quarantined at the pound for biting. You'd be more likely to get an Emergency Room report for a bite from a large dog than a small dog. Seems to me, anyway.

I would assume that the "terrier" would be smaller dogs.
It kills me how they list out Lab mix, Shepherd mix and then mixed breeds....how stupid is that....then the second list they have German Shepherd and another one called Shepherd.....that is stupid too.

I agree, Carol. The lists seem pretty generic as to breed of dog. Mixed breed is mixed breed, whether it's a poodlemix, a bassettmix, or a shepherdmix. I'd say give the lists the attention they deserve, which is about -1 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Yes, I think this whole list is pretty stupid. I hate to see things like this. Especially since I'm positivie it's far from accurate. There is no way in hell, these breeds are the only biters, so I'm sure they are over-looking the breeds that don't call attention or the smaller dog bites are not reported. My aunts Chihuahua, bites her kids on a near-daily basis.
I really don't like this list because, for anyone supporting BSL, they can see Bulldogs and Shepherds causing more bites than others. Since they are being counted twice and in many cases they aren't even the breed in that mix.

By small dogs I meant toy breeds. It erks me to see Pit Bull...what is that? APBT, American Staffordshire Terrier, Stafordshire Bull Terrier, American Bully or some mixed dog that looks like it has some of one of those breeds in it?????
Also if you are in an area where a particular breed of dog is more popular than another of course you will see a higher statistic, there are more of that kind of dog...and contrary to the ill advised medias beliefs ...ALL DOGS CAN BITE. The only way I know to completely eliminate biting dogs 100%, is to eliminate dogs. I hate this kind of stuff...sorry for the vent.
I agree the list is not worth the newspaper it is printed on, but I can guarentee it has a bunch of folks all concerned!!!!!

I wouldn't trust *anything* printed in a newspaper - the ethics of most journalists are one step above drug dealers, in my book.

I think this list was thrown in there to "fill a blank" spot in the paper. Obviously whoever compiled the info does not really know what they are doing, which in turn, makes it look really bad for certain breeds.
Maybe some letters to the Editor are in order here? This way, our thoughts are getting across to the people where it may make a difference?

I agree with you Val. That is the first thing that jumped at me and really pissed me off!!
If you take the way the public sees a "Pitbull" and divide it by the number of different breeds they discriminate/ban them, the Pitbull would be a lower scale, like maybe 30 bites. And for Heaven's sake, the Pitbull is banned in Miami-Dade and it's still making the list. That is gasoline for the BSL fire.
I think a letter to the editor from a few different people would be a really good idea. I was looking for an email, but couldn't see anything.
