I have been using the E Collar off and on for almost two years, and am beginning a "refresher" E collar recall training for my dog, due to some backsliding on her part. My question is, is it OK to use treats to reward good response to the E Collar, like one would use them with other forms of training. I have met two people that were told by their E collar instructor not to use treats, when using the E Collar.
I am constantly amazed by the things people are told by instructors. I would hope the people who were told not to use treats when using an ecollar (or any other kind of training tool) would find a new instructor to help them with their dogs.
Dear Bob:
You should only use food, treats and praise in conjunction with the e collar if you want your dog to learn a task, to have a great time and to increase the bond you have with your canine partener!!!!
Tally Ho!!!!!!
Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling that the no treat rule didn't make sense, and it came from a national chain which apparently has some strange protocols.
