so, if any of you remember, brooklyn, the female pup has had some aggression issues that i have been working with.
I thought things were getting better for a while, but instead, she is now just unpredictable.
Last week, i gave her one more time to bite anyone(me, my other dogs, or the cats) before i would have her put down.
I have been faithfully keeping her separated from the other dogs, and the cats too.
Well, this morning, she was behind a baby gate in the kitchen, and Sonny(her brother) was in the livingroom. I was leading Bart outside, she saw him, and brooklyn barreled through the gate and clamped onto Barts thigh. Then sonny joins in.
So i am in my livingroom alone, with 2 dogs clamped onto my DA Bart, and trying to keep him from killing them. I am literally kicking brooke as hard as i can(i jammed 2 toes), blocking sonny, and holding barts head, all at the same time. So i drag bart over to his crate, shove him in, get bit really bad in the process, but bart is finally in his crate, all but his tail, which brooke now has.
i had to choke her to get her to let go of his tail. So i am pulling her away, and she is still snapping her teeth, trying to bite me, trying to bite at sonny(who was hiding under my bed now).
i am taking her tomorrow to be pts. I know it needs to be done, it should have been done a long time ago, but i am having a really hard time with this.

God, that's an awful scene you just described.
I don't know what to say other than I'm SO sorry, Mallory.

Mallory, you tried your best. You loved her, and gave her a good life. Her previuos life damaged her beyond repair. Don't feel guilty.
My prayers are with you,
Shody

it was, i have seen bad dogfights, i have seen bart kill my bunny, i have been bit worse than this, i have had animals all my life, been scratched, bit, etc. I have never been so upset by this though.
after everyone was secure, i just went in the bathroom and started bawling.
i think mostly, it was the realization not that i would have to put brooke down, but that i have been working my ass off to deal with barts dog aggression, and this happens.
After i calmed down, i went to check on bart, and he just looked at me like "see mom, i DO have to make the first move". of course, he's fine, that wirey fur comes in handy. Brooke of course was in her crate, biting and shaking the bars at me.

this is a weird question, but considering i am taking brooke in tomorrow...what to i need to do tonight? How do i need to handle her-i know that everything needs to be normal-but what would you do for your dogs last day?
what do i do if she is just amazing acting tomorrow?? I know she is still aggressive and unpredictable, but you know... i guess i will always wonder what if she just suddenly stopped being aggressive, but i would never know because i had her put down?
ahhhhh-that is my biggest weakness....my damn hope.....hahaha.
When i was little, and we had outside cats, and one would get run over, but still be alive(mortally wounded, of course) but my dad would have to "handle" it, and i would always wonder what it they would have been fine, but we had to kill it???

If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.

Mallory,
I am very sorry to hear about your situation. It must be very difficult.
I have a question but am hesitant to ask because I do not want it to appear as though I'm kicking you when you are down. So please know I am asking with the best of intentions.
I vaguely remember another post or two from you regarding aggression in one of your dog(s). I guess I'm assuming that you knew one or more of your dogs was DA and, therefore, my question:
Is there a reason that a baby gate was used instead of a crate?
I guess not knowing the whole story I'm wondering if there is a way to save her?

You know how much you have done so stop second guessing yourself. This is the best probably even for the dog. It can't be easy living with all that pent up frustration and rage.
Randy- if your "empty" post was intentional it was cowardly and mean.
