Sorry didn't know how to title it but here's the deal. When she does something wrong and I give a firm No (or Hey she knows both) from a distance and I approach her, she runs away from me like I'm chasing her. How can I correct that or is she still too young? I hear Ed saying something on keeping a puppy on a leash while in the home? I haven't received my dvd's yet but I would like to get this solved so I dont' have to go chasing her around when she does something wrong. When she's off leash everytime I try to approach her she thinks I'm playing and runs away from me. I do not chase her at all. I simply stay put and call for her and still she does not come to me. It's been a frustrating morning.
You should keep a long leash on her at all times if she is loose, so you can grab it and get control of her. If she isn't in the crate or confined, have it on her.
Prfereable it should be a leash with no loop on the end, called a drag leash or line.
The trainer we used with Maggie had us use nylon rope, that way if the puppy chewed through it, you weren't losing too much money (buy like 100 feet)...we just tied it on her collar and if she was loose, the colar went on...and when she went to crate, it came off.
You will get a lot of tips when you get your DVD...
Puppies don't get n trouble when they are on a leash in the house - letting puppies off leash allows them to get into things they are not suppose to. This in term results in owners correcting puppies that should not have been in a position to get into trouble, which in tern is detrimental to the relationship with the owner and puppy.
