Ummm, I am looking for something to help my parents' 11 years old American Eskimo dog. I used to give him a pill that he can chew to help with his back/butt arthritis. Now he refuses to take the chew pill so I'm looking for a yummy liquid stuff.
I couldn't help but feel sorry for him when he tries to poop. It seems like he has a hard time keeping his rear legs holding his weight when he poops; however, he is not overweight. I have noticed that he lacks some muscles in his rear legs.
When he was younger, active, and healthy, he used to weight around 25 to 30 pounds, but now he is around 15lbs. A few times I have caught him using the Malibu light to help him holding his weight while he is pooping.
I am not sure which liquid I should go with, grand Flex, syn-flex, or something else to help him. I hope one of them will help him a lot than the chew pills.

I really like Syn-Flex liquid glucosamine. I switched from Grand Flex when my dog was diagnosed with HD. It's beef-flavored and they have a formula just for animals.
I went with the Syn-Flex because my understanding is that liquid is better and more quickly absorbed than powder.
I used Synflex (bought it from Leerburg) and it really helped my German shepherd in the last couple of years of his life.
My dog had built up so much muscle in the front part of his body because he spent so much time "dragging" himself up to support himself. The vet said that dogs loose that muscle in their back ends when the hips start to go bad.
I just put my 7 yr old dog on syn-flex a couple weeks ago for his hip dysplasia-I'm trying to get him off rimadyl- it seems to be working great so far-I have him down from 100mg to 50 mg rimadyl right now and plan on stopping it completely next week. I have tried other supplements in the past but when I cut the rimadyl he seemed to always start limping, but he hasnt done that yet with the syn-flex.
Good Luck
Thanks for all great feedbacks on syn-flex and I have bought it from leerburg a few minute ago. How long will it takes to see some improvements? A week or two?

I honestly don't remember the time frame because it's been awhile since I first used it. I just remember that it did make a difference and I was glad not to use Rimadyl anymore because of it's side effects.
The vet did also encouraged me to keep him moving and swimming was her recommendation (I didn't have that option). We continued walking him for as long as possible.
