Well it looks as if the pup is currently winning this contest. I'm having the time of my life with this new pup. It's amazing the difference of working with pure working lines and working with working lines and ASS lines.
So far she has solid nerves. Not much phases her. Loud noises just get her attention. Let's hope the nerve God's continue to bless her.
I have been working with her for 10 minute sessions 3 to 4 times daily. Is this in line for a pup 11 weeks old. It seems she really enjoys the late night session around midnight.
It isn't so much "how long" that you should be worried about. You need to stop BEFORE she starts to lose interest. It is just learning to read your dog. It makes for a much more "pushy" dog later.
Don't fall into the "one more time syndrome"
Just think 34lbs ago you would have been even more tired. Good Job!
Well it was a case of save the pup from the hillbilly's. Now she has to deal with the Cajun's. Poor pup, from bad to worst.
She's not to much to handle, actually she has been suprising me with how fast she catches on.
It's just she has so much prey dive you can't hardly wear her down. I'm not complaining, it's really a blessing from the prey God's.
Three to four 10 minutes sessions per day for a young pup is too much. You wqill burn this pup up. The biggest problem with nice high drive puppies is the handlers who over train. Three times a day for 1 1/2 to 3 minutes is more in line.
Thanks Ed, you posted; The biggest problem with nice high drive puppies is the handlers who over train. Three times a day for 1 1/2 to 3 minutes is more in line
Since you forgot to stop in Nashville to drop off the pup and now the pup is too much, you can still send her this way..."-)
sorry there Smithie, but if that little girl goes anywhere, it'll be further south

well Butch, just remember, you asked for it
And if you can convince the wife to come this weekend (which I'll have directions out to you tomorrow), you can both see what lies in her future and get a hint of the hard work (on the trainer/handler's part) that goes into such a "well oiled machine"
