A artsit tied up a dog and starved it to death in a exibition for ART... he was then put through to represent his country in a competion later in the year.
Im not much for signing petition or being shocked by the cruelty of mankind but this really pis##d me off.
The english translation is at the bottom of the page.

Been to Costa Rica many times and lived there for a while. It is a terrible situation both there and the rest of Central America. Other Central American countries are even worse than C.R. A 1.5 year old dog is a old dog there. Dog diseases are rampant particularly parvo and distemper. I've witnessed vultures picking apart a dieing dog. They all have worms.
The average Costa Rican can't afford any kind of shots or dog medication.
They want "bravo" dogs. Translation is brave which means vicious to us here. They use them to guard against intruders. Petty crime is out of control in the major cities like San Jose.
Oh boy. Now, being an artist myself (an animal artist, no less), I won't make this a comment about the nature of "Art" in general (I'm not a fan of most contemporary art, but obviously, I find great value in artistic creativity) - but I will say that this particular artist is a VERY sick individual and I am deeply saddened to see such cruelty labeled as "art".
Additionally, all those who attended that "show" and supported him when he represented all of Costa Rica later in the year are no better than he is. If he had truly wanted to show the suffering of so many street dogs, there are far less savage ways to do so - though one of my biggest beefs is that he appeared to keep changing his artist's statement in reaction to criticism, to try to keep himself out of trouble. At it's heart, this stunt appears much more a show of egotism than a plea to help homeless animals.
