There was a time when these words actually passed through my lips: "When the day comes that I am old and gray, and can no longer handle a german working line GSD, I hope to be able to find a nice german show line GSD to have by my side. After viewing the videos on U-Tube of the protection work, and seeing that these jokes were not only allowed to continue on to the next phase, but many were rated "VA" and "Pronounced"???? What a sad, disgusting joke, and this is supposed to be the best the USA has to offer?? Never, ever will one of those dogs grace my side. I'd rather be dead.
Can we put the blame where the blame lies? Not on the dogs, on people who bred them. The dogs are not a joke, the people who bred them are. The dogs are not crap, the judges who judge them are.
Too often I read posts on "crap dogs". Frankly, it's downright irritating to hear this kind of talk on a dog forum. NO dogs are crap. The people who breed them are responsible for how these dogs turn out, not the dogs.

Call it what you like, and of course I agree, the blame lies in the breeders/owners/trainers/judges. Plenty of blame for anyone who thinks this is correct GSD temperment. I would not own one of them.
Hey guys I have a question I hope you can answer about this thread.
There seems to be a nagative reaction to this video and I would like to learn about it.
If a group of people wanted to breed dogs acording to a standard then judge them according to that standard why is that negative? How is that different from another standard?
Is not breeding all about selecting desireable traits. Because one group of people are selecting for one trait and another group selecting for different traits what make one group better? Who makes that decision and on what basis?
Is there a difference in the physical or mental health of the dogs? Is it just an opinion thing?

Thats just it, they are not being held to the same standards!
Thats like there being 2 schools. One for kids who aren't very bright and one for kids who are very intelligent. They all go to take the same exams to become a doctor, and all the intelligent kids are judged harshly and work hard to score well, and the kids in the other not so bright school get the same (or better) scores when they got most of the answers wrong on the same tests.
If you are going to compete in a sport then they shouldn't relax the rules because of the lineage of a dog.
