I know I have a long way to go, but thinking of getting involved with a Schutzhund club and entering some events. Would be doing it more for the "fun" of it as opposed to serious competition...at least for now.
A couple of questions that will probably show my ignorance. First, can you enter a dog that has been spayed in competitions? Also, my GSD is 3 years old. Ideally I should have started earlier, but looking more for the learning and training aspects of this. Is this too old to get started. Again, I am not focusing on going to the nationals, but more the learning, training and fun aspect of the sport.
I know the first step is a BH, which may be a stretch for us due to some of her temperment issues (we are making good progress on them), but it is a goal nonetheless. Many of the issues probably fall back on me, so I guess I am as much a work in progress as she is.
Any tips or suggestions? Have a couple of books which has really got me interested.
