Hi All,
Would just like to share that Rock, Jesea and I traveled to Camp Ripley Minnesota this past week (well we were there for 6 days to do some extra training as well) and we passed our certifications with the North American Search Dog Network.
Rock and I passed our air scent with an average score of 97 out of 100 (couple minor handler errors)
and
Jesea and I passed our cadaver with an average of 98 out of 100 (not handler errors but I used a long line instead of her e-collar and it kind of distracted her a bit)
(adding that there are three evaluators for each test, so I averaged instead of typing out all the scores)
Weather was around 30 degrees with high winds and heavy snowfall as well as blowing snow, so all in all the dogs did GREAT.
The tests are not near as difficult as the NIMS requirements, but at least they do not hand certs out like candy and do not give hints when testing.
Also, while testing cadaver the National Guard was firing live rounds about a mile away, distracted me a bit when the first one was fired and then hit, but I can proudly say that Jesea was not phased and worked well "under fire"
Anyway, just had to brag a bit. I have no complaints with these two.

And did your hubby have to put on the body armour to take care of Ember while you were away?
Nope, she went with me. She did great on the small scenarios we set up for her. Right now I am putting out larger sources and learning her body language when she is in scent.
We are working on her alert separate and in a few weeks, depending on her, I will start putting them together.
There were a lot of people there and pretty much most of them dod a great job as well. I was impressed with the turn out and they asked me to evaluate when I got there, so after my tests I spent the rest of the weekend evaluating. Some great, some good and some not so good. But it was a great time.
