I recently purchased a agitation collar for my 18 mo old malinois I'm working with. I have a standard leather collar, and a choke collar aswell for walking with my fiance. Is there any particular reason I can't leave his agitation collar on as a daily use collar?
I ask this because in searching the forum archives for answers I found people saying not to but only reason being "what if it gets unhooked?". My boy is well behaved and no longer needs the choke collar (corrections) to walk loose leashed with me. I'm just trying to simplify this game of musical collars I have going. Any info is appreciated.

I like a regular flat collar for everyday use.
My experience with the agitation collars is that they do rub hair and can thin it out. Plus, there is really no reason to have a thick heavy collar on the dog all the time, IMHO.

I would not use agitation collar for everyday use because that collar means agitation. I want my dog to fire up at the site of it. Only collar I want my dogs to be wise to.
I did think of that, how my guy goes nuts if he sees his hiking pack, or wieght harness etc. However, would that mean he would be less likely to exercise his protection training in a real life scenario where he didnt receive his cue with the collar? Just a thought I had.
