Hi All,
I've been feeding Nutro Ultra for the past coupla years. One cup per dog, per day. I've always supplemented w/ raw beef, chicken wings, backs ect..., whole mackerel and both dogs get a very meaty beef neck bone .5 to 1lb directly after their dish meal. These bones are almost totally consumed. Overall I've been satisfied w/ this diet. Recently my little guy (100lb GSD Axel)had a gastro upset i.e. runs, vomiting ect... This was right after picking up a "fresh" bag of food. He's lost some weight since, nothing substantial, but noticeable. I've decided to change their diets. I'm considering The Know Better Pet Food. Does anyone have any experience / knowledge of this product.
I'm kinda committed since I already ordered it.

P.S. I would always stop feeding any new package that coincided with GI upset.
I would seal it up and store it out of reach while tending to the dog.
This was one of the big items to come out of that terrible recall, when so many people unknowingly encouraged their dogs to eat food that was killing them, after the dogs tried to refuse it (in some cases) or exhibited symptoms.
Of course, I'm not saying that it's likely; I am saying that I would never feed any food that was suspect at all, and that I would save it and its package while treating my dog.

Why not just go completely raw? It looks like you are almost there anyway. You could even just drop the kibble meal and increase the amount at the raw food meal and feed once a day.

The Nutro is in a sealed container. Hasn't been used (w/ either dog)since the onset of illness. Since then I've been feeding all raw. My problem is that I'm not so sure that a proper balance is being achieved w/ "my" raw feeding. I've read so many conflicting articles that I've become confused: supplements, no supplements...
I will add that I do add 1000mg Kirkland Organic Fish oil, 1 clove of garlic, ~1 tbspn olive oil and 100mg Pycnogenol to their dish every day along w/ a Glucosamine/Chondroiten (sp?) treat every morning. My thought's are that by combining the kibble, whatever I leave out will be caught by a high quality kibble (if there is such a thing as high quality kibble)

Stephen,
To be honest, I use this site for all my Raw needs and questions. I do read and research other stuff, but this site has made it easy for me to learn and be comfortable with raw diet.

JMHO: The Leerburg sample menu (including photos) and Cindy's Q&A will give you an excellent and balanced raw diet. (I'm not a health professional, but I have studied canine nutrition for years.)
I'd change your oil protocol, increasing the fish oil to a gram for every ten pounds of dog, and I would add Vitamin E, which is used by the dog's system in the processing of oil supplements (to protect fragile PUFAs).
Then I'd check out the LB menus and go for it.
P.S. I like THK very much and keep it on hand for travel and even for variety in the raw diet, and I have helped to switch dogs to raw with a THK-plus-RMB bridge. I know people whose dogs are on indefinite THK-plus-RMB diets, too, and I think it's a good one, whatever their reasons are for not wanting to go 100% raw.

They are both in the 95 - 120lb range. Wouldn't 10 to 12 grams of oil be quite a bit?
