I know somewere on the puppy vid Ed mentions the phone number to get cow mats for 2 bux/sq ft. Does anyone know that number/website or know were to get em cheap/by the sq ft? Thanks!
Warning: Attempting to handle a cow mat on your own is a PAIN IN THE BUTT!!! Make sure there are no small children present if you do attempt this or they will learn new words Have a friend help you handle them.
They are heavy. They don't like to stay rolled or folded up, and they are difficult to grip.
The easiest way to cut them is with a sawzall with a very coarse blade. You will smell stinky burnt rubber and have a driveway filled with rubber sawdust.
If you plan to use them for a puppy, then be sure to lift them up daily and check underneath them. When used as a crate liner in wire crates with the plastic trays, somehow they are really good at completely sealing in the smell of anything that gets under them. Ever smelled 10 day old urine thats turned to ammonia??? I swear that stench stayed in my nostrils for a week! And there I was thinking my puppy kept the crate clean for 10 days straight

But they make for great indestructible flooring
HAHAHAHAHA Mike, after cussing, yelling and losing some skin on my knuckles yesterday and reading this post this morning, I realize I should have asked for help moving 10 mats yesterday.....glad the grandkids were not around.....
I have not said those words in a while......

Grabbing the mats with a pair of pliars instead of your fingers makes moving them not so bad. Just don't let go of the pliars while you are pulling.
I like to use a utility knife to cut them.

What do people use in their crates? Is just the rubber mat enough or do you put something soft on top of it?
We had one of those plastic tray with a soft mat on top, but somehow Max broke the tray, I think he must have been jumping up and down on it. So now we have the soft mat just on top of the wire, can't seem to find a rubber mat big enough - they are mostly door mat sized.

Depending on the dog, I use either just the rubber stall mats, cut down to fit, or I put a blanket in the crate. Some of my dogs shred blankets, hence the reason for the mats.
