Hello,
I searched the site a bit, but thought I would inquire for some opinions also.
My PitBull cross, appears to have allergies to pollen?? I'm from NJ, and the pollen has been outrageous. My dog has been licking her feet, and I noticed a red irritated patch inside her hind leg. She has also done some sneezing. She also seems more irritated when her prong collar is one, trying to scratch at it, shaking her head. I also noticed, on a real windy day, if the wind is blowing towards us, it seems to irritate her face...by that I mean she kinda puts her head down and will shake it like its bothering her ears!
Nothing else has changed with regard to diet, bedding. She is fed Natures Variety kibble or Raw patties. I also supplement with veggies, salmon oil, Vit E....
I will give her a bath with some sore of collodial oatmeal shampoo. I guess I should really wipe her down after coming in from outside.
I'm giving her extra vit C also. Has anyone supplemented with the Azmira Alleg-G?
Linda,
I'm not familiar with "Azmira Alleg-G" (a Google search didn't turn up anything).
Our pitbull/bullmastiff mix Nickie also has allergies to pollen/grass, etc. It first started with the area around his eyes (about an inch or so around the edge of the eye) was losing hair and looking more pinkish. Also along the edges of his muzzle was looking more pink. He has been on the prescription Hydrozoline (sp?) for about a year with very good results. He also has salmon oil & Vit E in his diet.
This time of year when there is lots more pollen, he and Roxie both will occasionally scratch at their necks (could be their new e-collars though). I've also been giving Roxie one of the capsules (Nickie gets two because he is bigger).

I am an allergy wreck this time of year and have a dog with moderate pollen allergies that have the potential to be severe. He will if I leave him exposed develop hives, itch himself raw, and just in general be miserable, usually after a bad allergy day he is exhausted and can even run a mild fever. Some dogs also swell but so far I have not noticed it to be the case on this dog. Happily those days are few and far between since I figured out what the issue is.
Wiping off the dog with baby wipes helps buckets with pollen itchy dogs. I also find that spray on oils like spray on detangler oil also helps keep the pollen off the dog's skin and happily off of me as well.
For really bad pollen days I also water rinse the dog before bedtime usually just by hauling them into the shower I take on bad allergy days. Towel dry and then we're both off to bed.
Remember also that cleaning bedding once a week and washing out the crate also helps. Also changing out the filter on the air system once a month at least is a big helper.
