Well, Gus (the pup) and I had our first lesson at the Tom Rose Kennel. This is nothing new for all of you, but I was very impressed.
Actually, the pup did better than me! By the end of the hour, I had the pup sitting on command, I walked in front, walked around him and back to my left. Same with down. Finally sit before I go out the door and then release him to follow.
Toward the end Gus was down on command and the instructor and I sat and talked. He stayed down throughout the converstation. What a RELIEF to know that I can now again enjoy breakfast conversation with my wife without this pup jumping on us or going wild.
I know it's the VERY beginning, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Next week I will be tested as well as the pup - (what if he passes and I fail ). Also, next week we start on tracking.
