Hi,
I feed my 2 dogs Merrick kibble and canned. They love the food and are both very healthy with beautiful coats. They especially love the chicken with bone (Wing-a-ling). Also Evangers offers canned food with bone such as their Chicken Drumettes and whole mackeral. The food is pricier but I find a little goes a long way. I mix Merrick kibble with additional veggies such as green beans and carrots for additional bulk and add a small potion of the canned varieties. I have never fed a raw diet so I cannot comment or compare it to Merrick. I just know I feel very comfortable with the quality and variety of Merrick products.

Well, it's cooked, not raw bone. I don't think there's any real advantage in using the canned product vs a good quality kibble. There are better ways to bridge to raw.
Have you checked out the list Leerburg has of all natural foods?
Here's the link:
http://leerburg.com/all-natural%20kibble.htm
If you are thinking of switching to raw, you can always start w/ Honest Kitchen, which is a dehydrated raw product that you add water to. (but it's pricey) You can add RMB's directly to this product if you wish.
I compromised and feed my dog raw for one meal, and a good quality kibble for the other. I do like the convenience in the morning, when I'm rushed, of feeding kibble. But my dog definately prefers the raw!

I feed the Merrick Kibble and mix it with raw foods. They like all versions of the kibble. I mix raw food with it and add salmon oil. My dogs have beautiful coats and the food is very rich so they eat much less of it than they would eat regular kibble. I used to go through 1 40 lb. bag every two weeks of Science Diet for 3 large dogs and the 30 lb. Merrick kibble lasts me for 3 weeks. It's more expensive per pound but it's less expensive to feed because they eat a lot less and definitely get more out of it.
I never tried the canned.

If you are going to feed kibble, that is fine just please make sure you take time to look at the list that Lynne posted. You are not going to spend any more money going with one of the recommended brands, and they are available in the same store as the merrick is. For the same or less price. I don't know if you had a chance to check out those links specifically about merrick and petcurean (which is owned by the same people, and has done processing for them in the past.)
A while ago I used to feed canned merrick as a topper to get my pup to eat. I stopped when the first recall I had heard happened - there were metal shards in the cans. Since then I have continued to hear things about various recalls they have had etc. IT's a very unregulated company, and the treatment of livestock that the owners have personally is pretty bad as well. They also include the 4 D's in their food. Yes, you could absolutely do much worse. But for the same price you can also do much bettter.

I had asked the same question a while back.
Not sure if the link up there is my question.
I will say this though.
I now feed raw and if I have to go to a kibble for what ever reason I do parie.
And I just got a friend to do parie instinct mix. Tell she desides to go to raw.
I bought a bag of marrick when I was thinking about it.
Food looked good bruiser loved blah blah blah LOL.
Do some back tracking even from the links.
They have had problem after problem after problem.
Try parie they sale that in my little pet store and they have a raw diet pre made also that is what I use for mu raw diet the dogs love it. And they are healthier because of it.
My small dog is a chi they are known to get sick very easily.
Never been sick he is 4 months old 2 sets of shots he is done for life.
And he is happy look around there are better for cheaper.
Dont even take our word for it do your research research goes a long way to the health of you and your dogs.

Thank you all for your comments/suggestions, I am looking into my options. My current dog (a female boxer) is on dry kibble and on occasion I add canned Merrick foods. I am getting a Malinois pup in a week and the breeder told me he's been giving the pups a RMB diet. That is what has developed my intrigue in the topic. I'll be honest, I don't think I'm headed to a RMB diet, but I'd like to include as much non-processed foods as possible if it is the best for the dogs. Anyone with any recipe ideas, I'd love to try them. Thanks again!

I'm not sold on the bones idea. I've read numerous articles about the RMB and BARF diets and I do believe that the "right" bones can truely be benifical to a dog, but I am heistant about them being 100% safe for consumption. That doesn't mean I am against the raw meats or vegetables, but a 100% RMB diet, I'm still researching it and maybe the more I read, learn, and see, I'll be on board, but I gotta get some more reading done before I feel comfortable with the diet.
