heres the question. Ive got a 4 month old shep mix who Ive had for two months (rescue off the street). she has been vomiting for two days but
only stomach juices, no blood or strange colors
eats certain grasses but not to induce vomiting
has no appetite but does drink plenty of water
is not listless or lethargic, just subdued
still curious and alert
does not appear to be experienceing any pain
stomach is not distended or painful
I cant find any blockage in the mouth or throat
normal stool
Im looking for some ideas or experience, I know that this is not a dignosis but this has me stumped since there are no other symptoms but the vomiting has continued for 2 days now.
there are only two possible causes from the day before
she did wade in a swampy area where I take the dogs to run, she has done this in the past BUT not in the exact same place.
she was given a chunk of cooked beef trimmings that night.

Edit reason: spellin
any ideas about what it could be?
She isnt lethargic and it seems like a stomach upset but there is no diarrhea, actually Im having hard time getting a fecal as she hasnt needed to since yesterday.

I agree with Connie....she needs a health check. Fecal, bloodwork and a good once over.
I can only take guesses at what it could be, but as you talk about her not needing to go potty, a blockage of some sort comes to mind. Parasites, and illness of maybe a couple different things comes to mind.
I am more comfortable with this dog seeing a vet though, than trying to narrow down the cause on the board. Sorry Mary.

thanks, guys.
I did take her to the vet. The first thing they asked was "is she vaccinated" and when I said no they gave a knowing nod and said "its Parvo"
tee hee. I decided not to get into the whole vaccine spiel right then but they did a fecal and saw that it wasnt
turns out to be gastritus so she got a shot for the vomiting and a medicine for the stomach...shes was pretty much back to normal in 3 hours.
just wanted to conclude this for any future researchers reading the thread...

We wanted to know anyway.
I'm very glad that it wasn't parvo, BTW, although I admit that Parvo didn't make my short list of probables.
I agree, though im no vet, Ive seen dogs that had a bacterial problem in the intestine and this wasnt it.
I was just happy that it wasnt so that I can start off on the right foot when revealing that I dont vaccinate and feed raw...
