We have a 3 month old GSD who barks at strangers while out on walks. He is not very agressive when he does this barking, he usually just stops in his tracks and lets out a "woof...woof". When we take him over to our family's homes or people come over - no barking/social problems - except one time we had some work men over and we had the dog separated in another room with us by a gate (the workers were constantly walking back and forth through the house). He barked quite a bit at them. Was it because he was not "introduced" to the workers/strangers like he was with our other guests/family? Is he trying to be protective at this age? I don't want the intensity or frequency of the barking to worsen. Any suggestions on why he is doing this or what we can do to alleviate the problem while out on walks? We are not raising him to do any kind of protection work in the future.
