I have a 7 mo old gsd. I know its not good to let the pups do any jumping which can cause their hips to go bad. One of the things my pup does is jumps up in the mid air while I am playing ball on a rope/tug w/ him. Can this jumping while on grass be bad for my pup? I also noticed he has been jumping on and off the hammock in the yard too. Just wondering if I should put a stop to anything that causes him to jump.

I have a 8 mo old GSD I just had prelims done on her hips. Youcould see the growth plates were still open a bit. Becouse of that the vet told me she could jump as long as it wasnt to jaring. I let her jump a wall thats 12 inches high and she jumps into the back of my truck. But I wont let her jump out and hit that hard serface with locked elbows.
Id say 12 to 18 " OK but nothing big yet.
Im sure som will disagree but I'd rather be safe than sorry. One mistake and she could be messed up the rest of her life.
