My 7 month old GSD has had the typical black lips of a shepherd, but in the past week or so I have seen his bottom lips turn pinkish on each side. Just curious as to what may be the cause of this. He comes from excellent bloodlines and is a gorgeous dog and not exhibiting any signs of anything being wrong with him, but I wonder why his black lips are fading. Anyone have an answer for me?
Are his food and water bowls made of plastic? My female started to have the color leach out of her nose and I switched all the bowls to corningware (glass) and it stopped. Her nose is back to black now.
They are not, but there are a few other things that are different in the past weeks that I am going to eliminate. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
As I side note, my wife is originally from Nacogdoches, TX and her cousin is at UT now and we were out in Austin last fall...great city.
Thanks again. If anyone else has ideas, I'm all ears.

Have you got a pic? There are several things that can cause lips to go pink including a couple auto immune diseases, wear, diet, genetics, coloring, cancer, etc etc.
