My 8 month old GSD has this interesting behavior that has been going on since she was a little pup.
We have a pet bed in the livingroom for her to lounge on (otherwise she sleeps in her crate) but the behavior is this:
She has this fuzzy soccer ball that she will hold in her mouth, while she lays on the bed and kneeds it like she is nursing.
Sometimes she actually falls asleep with the "nursing ball" in her mouth.
I have seen cats with this behavior, but never a dog.
It is so cute, but I am surprised that she has not ourgrown this.
Has anyone ever seen this behavior or has a dog that does this?
It is so cute, and makes me smile.
She is like a child, only her fuzzy ball is her pacifier!
For my last GSD, it was a piece of burled apple tree branch. She never did chew that thing up, like she did everything else, she only mouthed and gnawed on it. And yes slept with it.
I should have buried her with it, but I keep it for myself now.
my sister is on her fourth golden, all have been great, but this one for some reason loves to hold and suck on any fleece bed she can get a hold of, sometimes falls asleep while doing it. I too have also heard that it is because it was weaned early or taken away too early from mom.
I got my dog from a supposed reputable breeder, so I sure hope that she did not wean her too soon. I had wondered that though.
Reguardless, it sure is a cute thing to see.
