I have a 1 y/o Jack Russell Terrier and recently I switched her diet to a different brand. Well for 2 weeks now she has had diarrhea. So, I switched her back to her old food....she ate it the first day and the next day she was solid again (WOOHOO). WELL, the day after that she starts throwing up and the diarrhea is back and now she won't eat at all (not the new food or old food). It has been a day and a half since she has eaten....any suggestions or is it vet time?
Thanks in advance.
Matt

2 weeks of diarrhea and now vomiting would have me going to the vet with a fresh fecal for them to analyze.
It's vet time, IMO.

Take the dog to the vet, and in the meantime, fast the dog.
Give it plenty of fresh water to drink and nothing else. I'd take the dog in today.
A dog that is vomiting and refusing to eat is telling you something is quite wrong.
I'd also take a look at the kibble you are feeding and get a feel for the ingredients, for possible causes. There are certain things that dogs are commonly allergic to, that *might* cause this reaction. If you can post the names of the kibbles, I'd be more than happy to look into it for you.

The food she was on from when she was a pup is Great Life. We could not find it at pet sores when we moved so we put her on Evo. I could not slowly introduce her to the new food because if I mixed the 2 she would only eat the Evo. So I thought maybe she was just getting use to the new food and her body needed to adjust. Well, after the 2 weeks I knew it wasn't that so i switched her back.....and she was fine for 1 day. NOW, that being said....she will eat treats (I just gave her one to see if she would actually eat one and she did). If she throws them up when I am not around I do not know.

For some dogs merely switching food too abruptly or quickly can cause tummy upset and your dog may simply have a sensitive system and nothing more.
But I'd want to rule out any other problem first. 2 weeks is a long time to have the runs.
Take a fresh stool sample with you or drop it off at the vet's prior to your appointment. An analysis can tell you if she has anything else going on.

I'd say the food quality is likely not the issue then.
How much are you feeding?
I take it you aren't crating the dog? Even if you don't normally crate her, now would be a good time to do it, so you know she isn't throwing up unbeknownst to you, consuming non-edible things about the house, and ALSO so you can make sure she stays quiet and calm as much as possible.
What has your vet said? Have you given them a stool sample yet?

Oh, I do crate her. And she is crated when I am gone during the day...then a dog walker takes her out at around 12:00. That is what I ment by not knowing if she throws it up and I don't see it since they tend to consume it once it is out (YUCKO).
Have not taken the food to the vet yet, but they did tell us the diarrhea could have been from the food switch and to keep and eye on her and make sure she is drinking lots of water (even suggested feeding her brown rice).
With her old food I could free feed her and it was never a problem, once she had enough she would stop eating. But I never gave her more than 1 1/2 cups a day. The Evo i had to watch her though because she would eat the food until it was gone....no matter how much I put in her bowl.
I do not leave anything in the apartment that she could eat without me knowing about it. HOWEVER...we did take her to the park on Sunday and she was eating grass, but she usually does that and has never had a problem. I do try to stop her from doing that but it's easier said than done =)

If she is re-consuming her food after she brings it up, it sounds more like overfeeding than anything.
How long after she eats does she vomit, and what does the vomit look like? It sounds more along the lines of regurgitation.
My guess would be that the diarrhea is from the food switches. The refusing to eat is a result of wanting back the Evo/not liking the old food as much as the new.
The vomiting is a result of overeating. She is expelling stomach contents because she is overfull. My pup did that her first week home, while we tweaked her feeding amounts.

I don't think I am overfeeding her, I keep a good eye on how much she eats and when she eats. She usually eats the same amount of food for the last year.
She ate dinner monday evening and then that night she threw it up in her crate, couple hours later. I cleaned it up before she even had a chance to eat it. Then all through the night she was throwing up and I got to it before she could eat it (was not food at that point, just stomach bile or water since I let her out to drink between rounds). But she has thrown-up then eaten it in the past so that is why I wasn't sure what was happening with the treats.
Would the refusing to eat because she wants the Evo be a factor even if I tried to feed her the Evo again and she would not eat it?
I have asked her walker to call me after their walk today with a report on if she is eating or not. I am concerned because I can't remember if she drank water this morning or not.....so if she does not do either after her walk.....it's straight to the vet.

If she's throwing up well after you feed her (an hour+), then you are right, it likely isn't overfeeding.
I think it's vet time. Try and have a good fecal sample to take with you. Heck, a vomit sample might be helpful too.
