My new dog that I've had for a little over a week ate his first leg quarter today! He, of course, had to drag it all over the kitchen floor to tenderize it first =P And I learned that the sound of crunching bones tends to illicit an "OMG!" response. At first he just licked it, then nibbled with the front of his mouth... by the time he got to the drumstick he was really chomping. =)
Now, a question. Since the quarters are a little bone heavy, should I use some ground meat as a chaser, so to speak? And where do you PUT the fish oil? Do you mix it with the ground meat or just kind of slather it on the RMBs?

Congrats!
And welcome to the world wide poop gazers club!
You can either add more ground, bone free meat the next day, or later on. You don't have to do it every day unless you need to add more meat anyway. Balance over time is the key.
My dogs have always loved the fish oil, and I have gotten lazy. I no longer mix, because they just eat everything. Usually I add a little water along with the food, and I put the eggs, yogurt, fish oil, and sometimes pumpkin in,without mixing any of it - just glop it in. They slurp it all up quick.

Congrats!
I don't worry about each meal being balanced, I worry more about everything balancing out over the week.
I feed kibble in the mornings, and raw at night. A couple nights a week, I feed RMBs. A couple nights is ground meat. One night is usually organ meat. One night we skip a feeding.
I mix my supplements (oil, vitamins, etc), in with the ground, and don't worry about it on RMB nights. That's just me, though. I tend to sneak everything in, with the ground. Last night there were alfalfa sprouts, raw egg and yogurt in with the ground venison, in addition to the regular supplements.
Before I fed ground, I was mixing them in with kibble in the morning.

That reminds me, I need to go to the store and get yogurt!
And when can I start leaving the skin and fat on the RMBs? I don't have a problem taking it off, it's just a little time-consuming. =P

When you have perfect poop, leave some on. Perfect poop again, leave it all on.
P.S. Most dogs are fine all at once, but I am usually starting adults after a life of kibble, and gradual rocks for knowing which item triggered any diarrhea that might happen.

He ate another quarter tonight for dinner. This is fun! He ate it in 2 minutes instead of 10. I want to keep giving him more food just because it's so entertaining to watch him eat it. He had a bunch of people observe today.
He also got some yogurt, which he LOVES. Hurray for having a garbage disposal dog!

Hi there. Do you all get your recipes from a book or what....? I have been wanting to raw feed for some time but I am rather intimidated on getting it correct. I have the barf books & have done extensive reasearch on many sites including leerburg but I have not made the leap quite yet. We have 4 dogs so I am just really confused where to start. Any helpful advise is greatly appreciated!

Steffanie, where in Washington are you? I'm in the Tacoma/Spanaway area.
I'd be happy to help you get started feeding raw.
