Since I'm really enjoying all the responses to the other thread "How to feed raw inside your house" I thought I'd pose this question.
Do those of you who feed raw give one meal a day or two? If one meal a day, is it a morning meal or an evening meal?
I have been feeding 2 meals a day. In the morning I feed a mix of kefir, veggie glop, salmon oil and vitamin E. The evening meal consists of meat, bone, organ and most often tripe.
Just curious what others do... There is really no particular reason I've been doing it this way and I'm thinking it can all comprise one meal.

Hi Katie,
I feed twice a day...RMBs at one meal and muscle/organs/veggies at the other.
I do this mainly because my dog eats 2+lbs. every day and I worry that's a lot of food to consume in one sitting. Plus, he'd never forgive me if the cats were fed and he wasn't.

I feed my older dalmatian twice a day. Once a day would upset her stomach.
My JRT is fed once a day, in the evening after all the days events are done.
I know that once a day isn't the most popular way to feed around here for the chance of bloat/torsion. I don't think there is anything that says one way is better/less riskier than the other. Its all what you feel comfortable with.
Feeding once a day, or every other day, lets me feed BIG meals. Big meals are very important to me, but may not be one of your top priorities.

Dog gets 2x's a day
Puppy gets 3, or he gets an upset stomach. When dog was younger, he was the same.

I really do not have a routine, especially with my past dogs. With pups, I fed three times a day. As adults, I mix it up - some days they will be fed twice, others once, and yet some other days three times. The amount of food per day is about the same depending on how they look. I also do not have specific times that I feed them - just not right before exercise or training.
There are many "reasons" I do this, but primarily, it is a matter of convenience. That is, my life should not revolve around my animals' feeding (my cats are treated the same way) - I will not leave an event early to go home to feed my animals. This is no different than in nature - wolves do not have fixed meal times or meal frequencies.
My pup right now who is about 7 months gets fed twice a day, but when she's an adult her feeding will follow the same approach as described.

I feed once a day in the evening. There is no set time when feeding occurs except for after our evening run and cool down. Like Siaty feeding my dogs does not control my lifestyle.

I feed twice a day. Kibble in the morn, raw in the evening.
The kibble is pretty regimented, she gets her bowl-full as soon as my son finishes his cereal.
In the evening, it depends on whats going on. Our evenings are pretty hectic. If we're grilling outside (which is frequently this time of year), then I'll let her sit outside and eat while we cook.
Otherwise, she gets her raw feeding sometime after we're done eating.

I feed the dogs once a day, in the evening usually. They have cooled down after any evening exercise and will have a long chance to digest before the morning training.
On training days, I MAY feed a small meal of meat and organ, and as we usually get home at 1:00 in the morning, they don’t get fed again until the next day. So I guess they get fed on my schedule.
Now the cat is fed twice a day every day.

Once a day. Mine get a good sized meal usually around 2 1/2 lbs. Ivan is still gaining weight (SLOWLY!!) and I have a horrible time keeping weight on the Boxer, Kavik in the summer. When I was feeding twice a day, Kavik would refuse the second feeding, no matter what time it occured. When I feed once a day, she will eat the whole thing. Because of that, I feed them both once a day, after we have worked and they have cooled off.

I feed twice a day. For the "hard to keep weight on" bitch I feed 3 times a day.
I feed raw, and go with the smaller meals twice a day due to the fact that I can be called out for a search at a moments notice. This way, I do not have the worry of deploying my dog on a totally full stomach.
