Does anyone make narrow crates that would fit a GSD? A crate that was just wide enough for the dog, with a door on both ends would be perfect for transporting the dog in my car. His large crate won't fit, and with something narrow, I could still slide it in the back seat, and a door at both ends would negate the need for the dog to be able to turn around to get out of it.
A nice plastic one with wire doors like the Remington crates would be awesome.
Plasti-Crate's two largest sizes are: PC V 36Lx26Wx28H, PC VI 41x27x31.5. There is only one door. If your dog couldn't turn around I suppose you could buy two crates, cut them apart and pop rivet the door halves together, you could even make an extra long crate that way.
Solution Series SUV crates (metal) should fit the bill on what you are looking for. Google it and it will come up or go to http://www.findit.com and search for it there. It will bring up the sites that carry that crate for you. It is 21 or 22 in wide depending on if you get the 36 or the 42 in length, w/ doors at both ends.
Hope this helps.

This is just a idea. I was able to fit a 400 plastic crate in a 1500 Dodge pickup. My rear seats fold up against the backrest. A carpeted platform folds out to create a level surface.
I couldn't fit the crate in erected. I had to put both pieces in separately and the complete the job from inside the truck. There isn't a inch to spare and the front passenger seat needs to be most of the way forward.
Putting the crate in the vehicle in 2 pieces was the key for me.
I fit a 400 crate for my Collies into my Ford Escort hatchback by assembling it in the car. I used to travel to shows in that car with the collie in his crate, a crate dolly, ex-pen, pooper scooper, grooming table, all his luggage, and one littel suitcase for me (lol). It can be done but it does take some working out.
