Hello, I have a WONDERFUL 4 year old GSD but he has a mouth problem. His lower lip has a fold in it on both sides and it is bloody and sore looking. I took him to the vet yesterday and she said to try and keep it dry (impossible) and to use Glen Haven wipes and Restorin ointment which I am doing but I don't see how it will ever heal due to mosture etc. He seems to have allways had a problem with alot of water running out of his mouth as he walks away from his water bowl. Could someone please help me out Thanks, Jack

Well, the only way to really try and keep it dry is not allow him free access to water, but rather offer it to him several times a day and wait for him to be done. Then wipe his mouth off.
Did the vet say anything as far as what she though was going on?
May be worth a second opinion.

Yes we are going to offer water several times a day and then dry his mouth as you suggest. And I think we will get a second opinion as this vet did not seem to offer any diagnosis.
Sorry I mis-posted earlier. I will keep you posted, and if anyone has any more ideas please let me know. Thanks, Jack

Sounds like a plan to me. Anyway you can post pictures of his lips?
That may make a difference to getting some advice.
(no issue to me on the mispost, it is always better to post a question that is not related to another thread, that way none of us accidentally miss it and don't answer )

You can get a free photobucket account online, upload pictures there, make the IMG size small enough to fit the IMG address into your signature or just post it in the message.
If you need further instructions, do a search (I had trouble figuring it out at first) or just ask.

Hello, I uploaded a couple of pictures of my dogs lip on Photobucket but do not know how to get them to this location. Sorry for being electronically impaired but hey I'm old. Thanks, Jack
