Ed suggests a "short line" attached to a prong collar attempted immediate corrections of biting at ankles, etc. Can anyone recommend where to purchase this? Is this a "traffic leash?
I take an old cotton long line or leash and cut it to the length I want.. Right now my short line is actually a dominant dog collar with the rings cut off. I melted the end with a lighter so it would not unravel.

Chuck I think you are thinking of a tab. It is a small lead approx 6" long with a small handle like a pull start for a chainsaw. Hey it could be (a chainsaw) if you have a handler aggressive dog!
Any ways Leerburg has them here http://leerburg.com/745.htm I like them and you can make one like the others have said out of an old puppy leash or cotton cord. Just keep it short enough so that the pup can't reach it as they will chew it if left unattended.
Thanks once again for all the advice.
Espy and I had a very good day yesterday. I am learning about marker training, and so is she. I've taught her "sit" with a voice command, teaching her "down" with a hand command, and now we're working on "stay". I like the part in marker training about how the food rewards need to fit "three on a dime". What a new way of training for me. She's responding very well.
I'm posting another question about teaching our puppy to retrieve items and bring them back. Thanks in advance for advice and ideas.
