My dog Shambo is 2-1/2, good lines, parents were Sch3 and Sch1. A few months ago was diagnosed with pancreatic insufficiency and put on enzymes with every meal for life -- feeding three x a day to try to get his weight up from 75 pounds to at least 80! Was down to 70. Then a month ago he got a bulbous growth on his right foreleg, just at the first joint above the paw. Doesn't hurt, not tender. Vet did a biopsy and is concerned because tissue does not look normal. Won't have results till next week. While doing blood test related to biopsy, found he has liver disfunction, vet porescribed milk thistle for this and said could not give pain medication for the biopsy suture.
I love my vet and trust her work -- but does anyone have experience with a young dog having multiple problems like this???Could there be some comon cause?? Anyone have experience with a growth like that on a dog? I sure hope its benign.
Throughout all this, Shambo is high energy, high play-drive, loves to be trained, will swim for hours, etc. Diet -- he's eating 1-1/3 cups Honest Kitchen and four cups ground beef plus one egg or 1/2 cup cottage cheese or can of sardines, etc. daily. Also a beef neck bone or marrow bone most days.
I'm very concerned about him. He's a great dog, totally present and willing. I want him to be well.
I just wanted to ask if tick diseases were checked for.
I have been reading so much the last couple days concerned over one of my dogs, I would at least have it checked.
