I came home from work and checked the boards (like I always do), and I noticed the posting times for all the active topics for today. And it occurred to me:
Does ANYBODY work around here??? LOL
It's like Dueling Posts.

Retired, all I do is train dogs, play house husband, work on my piano playing, and cook.
So I can just leave my computer on all day, lol.

I have a job, but that doesn't mean I work.
I put on funny clothes, show up, stand around doing this weird strange rectangle boxy-thingy with a bunch of other people, wearing the SAME exact funny clothes as me.
People who get paid more than I do yell at me; in turn, I yell at people who make less than I do.
They have no one to yell at.
Mostly I sit in front of a computer and try not to look too annoyed at the vast bovine multitudes of 18 year olds with silly questions
"But I could get sent to war!"
"Isn't it dangerous?"
"I don't do well with authority"
"Can I fly helicopters?"
"Ordnance, isn't that like... bombs and stuff?"
And my personal favorite, "The National Guard gets deployed? Seriously? I thought they just like, fought fires and stuff!"
I'm pretty much a desk jockey at the moment, having just returned from Iraq, and being in "medical limbo" so to speak, cannot return to my actual job of 31B20, Military Police.
So, I work full-time for the Nasty Guard in the Education Services office, which is part recruiter, part counselor, part migraine.
I don't like it very much, hence my frequent daytime presence here on Leerburg.
Being an Admin Pogue sucks. I didn't reenlist for this crap. Can I go back to Iraq now?

Alyssa,
I had a room mate in my unit State side that *every* morning would wake up ( after the CQ pounded on the door, of course ) and go to his wall locker, stretch, and say "hmmmm...think I'll wear...green today".
It was funny for the first month or so. Not so much after two years....

I miss BDUs.
I miss polishing boots.
I miss breaking starch on Monday morning.
Stupid ACUs.
If we wage war in a country densely populated with gravel pits, I am well prepared.

I work for the Missouri Dept of Corrections. I get up at 2:30 in the morning so that I can spend time with my dogs, so I am on here at that time of the morning checking out new post.
I am off Fridays, Sat. and Sundays and since I work for the state, I have lot of days off and so when I have the days off, I get on here pretty often.

Very unlike everyone who has posted so far (but I've enjoyed the posts!), I work part-time in retail at an awesome pet store.
We specialize in holistic and natural dog and cat food, our brands include Orijen, Wellness, Merrick, Evangers, Innova, California Natural, ZiwiPeak, Wysong, Taste of the Wild, Artemis, and Nature's Variety. (Also some Bravo, Primal, and other raw products.) In addition we carry all sorts of natural treats and try to carry some fun toys that you don't see elsewhere.
All of our small animals that we sell are locally bred. My co-worker breeds the rabbits at home (holland lops and mini rex), and the owner's sister breeds the hamsters and gerbils. Mice and rats are bred and raised in the store, and the reptiles are all locally sourced as well. In addition all hay and much of the pelleted food we sell is from an organic farm about an hour away.
We also have a pretty neat fish section, with two people who are very knowledgeable and great at what they do. It just amazes me how much they know, but then again, I probably impress them with my dog/small animal knowledge too.
I sneak on when I have time, but I actually get to "purposely" go on the site for various reasons. I have written the URL to the prong collar fitting page on the backs of several business cards to hand out to people and tell them "it should look like this when you are done!" It's great.
