I've read a number of the posts concerning bloat, but I haven't found this particular question....
Can a dog, in the process of getting really excited, inadvertantly swallow a lot of air?
We have a young male Lab whose belly suddently gets distended when he sees us come out to kennels in preparation to take him out to work. It's almost as if you can see his belly swell as you watch.
He doesn't seem to be in any discomfort. There are times when he will have loose stools soon afterward, but not every time.
In relation to this, he will eat and drink voraciously, and I've noticed some swelling of his stomach at this time. Again, no signs of discomfort.
I'm thinking that this is just because he's a Hyper @$$ Goober Head (HAGH), but I wanted to make sure it wasn't an actual health issue.

My lab does this as well when she gets excited... like when she sees the gun when we're loading the truck, is about to be released to retrieve a bird, or is about to be let out of her kennel to eat.
I think it's just an anticipation thing. I've not had any poo issues as a result though.
