so, sonny is almost a year now, and still intact.
i rarely bathe my dogs, they don't really need it. Plus, sonny's um, manhood, dropped a bit late, so i haven't had to really deal with all that.
this is embarrassing, lol....
how do i..well, wash his nodes??i mean, do they get scrubbed with the rest of him? do i need to be super careful? just rinse? what???
sorry, but all my other males have been snipped before this became an issue....and, well, i don't have any to wash, so i don't know these things....

Same way you wash a little boys "bits".
Soap and water, just like the rest of him.
Unless you're scrubbing with a bristle brush or something, no special precautions are needed. Just gentle lather and rinse.
He'll probably be kind enough to lift a leg for ya, LOL.

lol, i don't wash any little boys bits, lol.
i don't want to hurt him, or accidentally squeeze or whatnot...
i do use a bristle brush, it was one of those for humans, that attaches to a handle, and you wash your back, so it is soft-ish hair.
But i use it for the dogs...cause it has a hand strap, it's easy to hold.
should i not use the brush there??

nope, your hand or a cloth would probably be better appreciated than a brush of any sort.
When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower. |

he looked at me like "um, scuze me, what are you doing back there??"

Dogs don't have the sensitivites in that area that humans do. At least not the dogs I've had. Cajun was sleeping in the hall one time and I came around the corner with a whole bunch of laundry, I could not see him. Well, he got nailed in the testicles. He just calmly got up and followed behind me, no sign of anything wrong.
My uncle used to tell everyone that dogs are like humans, kick them in the testicles and they will fold up like a lawn chair. Not so. He found out the hard way that you don't try to break up a dog fight by grabbing those.
Its all part of having a male dog, its nothing inappropriate, if they are dirty and you don't want to touch them you can just hose them off. But IME I've never seen a male dog that didn't pay close attention to keeping that area clean on his own.

i don't think it's an innappropriate thing, i was just not sure what to do with them. I didn't want to hurt him, you know? but if they aren't sensitive there, then i won't worry.

"Hose them off"...LOL The men are cringing at that one.
True spends a lot of time keeping that area clean. It's a bit suspect, if you ask me. And of course he always feels the need to give me a big slobbery kiss right after.

Mallory, my definition of not sensitive is in regards to pain in direct comparrison to humans... I will say that some dogs just don't like anyone's hands being back there. Some dogs have been, erm, bitten there by other dogs and are shall we say "testy" ( ) about being handled or touched around there. These dogs also tend to not like having paws, legs, ears etc touched either and are all around "sensitive" to being handled.

And some dogs have had their temperature taken one too many times, and are just a tad jumpy about that whole area.
