First of all, thank you to all who have been so helpful. We've really gone through a lot with the new member of our "pack". I hope none of you mind that I've, at times, used this group as a sounding board and a "help line".
Well, Bosco, our 7 y.o. lab, had some blood in his stool yesterday. Bosco was taken to the vet along with a stool sample. Blood was drawn and we'll know results Tuesday. The doc asked if Bosco was under stress which was answered in the affirmative. If there is no organic problem and stress seems to be the reason for the blood in the stool, then Esperanza will not be with us any longer. Honestly, I can't handle the emotional roller coaster.
The saga continues. I'll inform the group as to the test results and decisions which will come from those results.
I just hate for you to give up Espy, only for this to happen again to Bosco later on. Wanted you to know that that is a possibility, too.
If the decision is made to give her up, then adopting another dog, for me, will be very difficult. I want to follow Ed's and this list's advice, re: training, etc. It has worked so well with Espy. But, as some of you know, my wife doesn't agree with many of the methods used here.
