I have a female that is 14 months old and has not had her first heat yet. The vet said maybe I missed it, but I have a male and he would not have missed it! Her vagina is so tiny that it's obvious she's never had a heat. I was planning on breeding her. Anyone ever had this?
She's eating Royal Canin Puppy and is on the thin side. She's not a huge eater. I could try putting yogurt or something on her food.

My papillon bitch didn't have her first heat until she was 15 months old which is exceptionally long for a toy breed dog. Her second heat was almost 9 months later.
I had her bred her last heat which was only her 3rd heat before she turned 3 years old in January. We have one month left in this pregnancy as of today and so far it's pretty textbook and she definately took. I wouldn't worry until she's 2 years old.

I don't know the direct answer to your question. But maybe it will help to think about her food. Why are you feeding her Royal Canin and why are you feeding puppy food to a 14-month-old?
I had a German Shepherd that we raised for the guide dogs. We returned her to the school when she was 12 months and she had not had a heat yet. We fed her Purina or something. But even then the guide dog school had us get her off the puppy food by 5 months.
My own pup was off puppy food by 3.5 or 4 months. Not saying they're related but puppy food is too high in calcium and other things that dogs don't need. Not to mention that Royal Canin is high in grains, contains corn ingredients, and has fillers.
I'd say feed her a better food, and if the vet has said she is healthy, wait a few more months. I think like humans, some dogs just take longer to mature than others.

My vet I bought her from swears by the Royal Canin and said that you can feed the puppy food up until 2 years old, since they're still maturing. Based on what I've read on this site, raw food is the best, the vets I've talked to don't agree (surprise). The Royal Canin is $40 for a 35lb bag and is supposed to be much better than Nutro and Iams, etc. I saw something at the feed store that is called Wild something... I don't remember. It has no grains and the number one ingredients are either wild fish, wild ducks or wild something else I don't remember.
Anyway. I'm sure she's healthy, just wondering if anyone else had experienced the same thing.

There is nothing wrong with feeding puppy chow later than 6 months in most dogs. Feed whatever you feel comfortable with, your dog is after all, your dog. Judging on the number of dog breeders I sell Purina One to I don't think kibble diets make much difference in heat cycles except in extreme nutrition problems. The wild food you're thinking of is most likely Eukanuba Wild formula... aka expensive crap in a bag.
Your dog's late first heat is not unheard of. Like I said before,I wouldn't worry until she's over 2.

Sorry, I haven't been on in a while. She was 7 months when I got her. I bought her from a vet/breeder in Oklahoma. I'm in AZ. I emailed him and he said he would give it a little longer before I got concerned. She is an overall very healthy dog. Full of energy, normal stools, she's not a big eater, but most standards aren't.

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showproduct.php?product=1520&cat=all
First 6 ingredients: Chicken meal, brown rice, rice, corn gluten meal, chicken fat, chicken,
We know from the label that it's 14% fat, so that's less than 14% chicken. It has three kinds of grain, one of which artificially inflates the protein numbers without having the nutrient balance of meat based protien. At least chicken meal is first, that's better than kibbles that start with grains.
I'm not impressed by the food. Nothing wrong with feeding puppy food, it's usually a slightly higher quality than the adult food of the same brand. It has a higher fat content, but you said your girl is skinny, so I don't see a problem with that.
If you're not going to feed raw, consider switching to a kibble dogfoodanalysis.com rates at 3 stars or better. These are the above average foods. 4-5 stars is a really good food. 6 stars gets to be really expensive for not much additional benefit.

I will check that out. What I like about this food is the really solid easy to pick up stools. I pick up a lot of poop and my kid plays outside so I can't stand when it gets mushed into the grass. I'm paying $40 for 35lbs so I don't want to get ripped off!

If you want easily managed poop, raw food is the best way to go, hands down.
Compact, small little stools, that turn chalky and crumble away after 3-4 days.
