How about treat filled (cream cheese, cottage cheese, peanut butter) kongs? She's starting to look at things with that "I think I'll chew on that" look in her eyes! Chuck

They are non-digestible and if your pup swallows a large piece it can cause an obstruction. Stuffed Kongs are great! I just bought one of the everlasting treat things form leerburg, and my dog loves it. She's fairly adept at getting the treat out of the middle, but i bet it would keep a pup busy for a long time... http://leerburg.com/1147.htm That's the one I got...

Kongs are okay at any age, unless you have the extremely rare chewer (had one in Iraq) that can actually destroy a Kong in less than an hour. Recreational bones are good, and my GSD loves her "Good Cuz" ball.

I think that recreational bones with adult teeth depend on the type of chewer that you have. I don't give them after seeing my granddog's Tufts bill for a crown when he was young and broke a molar on a recreational bone. I'm also a fan of hooves so long as the dog isn't a gulper. With my toy dogs I also use lamb ears/cow ears as a chew. My lab got moozles aka dried cow nose.
