My gsd of about 9 months has recently been barking a hell of a lot. It's generally for a reason such as hearing voices next door but it becomes a real problem. She activates very easily such as the sound of the neighbours talking or the sound of a distant bark. Even when i crate her she can still put on quite an act. Her bark is very loud and i'm worried i'll be getting complaints from neighbours shortly.
I've had some success with the marker training approach. It can be, and probably is, a slow process. Also, although it can be a pain in the rear, distracting my barking dog has worked as well. I've trained Layla to sit and down in the past week, so I distract her with these "tools". The pain is when it's at 12 at night, or 4 in the morning. Well it's worth it, right?
