Good morning everyone, I am kind of at a loss at the moment. I have a 9 month old female Mal that I bought from a friend after his had pups. Both of my Mal's parents are AKC papered/reg however mine is not, none of the pups from the litter have been papered.
I would like to get mine reg/papered, my question what would be the best way to go about this?
I don't know about litter registration deadlines, but my breeder gave me 11 months to fufil her contract requirements for registration. (AKC frowns on the practice of contract requirements for registration, but it's very common.)
If your friend won't arrange registration, you can still get Purebred Alternative Listing/Indefinite Listing Privilege (PAL/ILP) and participate in AKC performance events. You just won't qualify for conformation, or AKC registered breeding.
There is also an appeal process, but I assume you value your friendship more than AKC papers.
