What does chubs mean? I'm going to join the so cal raw food co op and I saw that the ground chicken was cheaper than the ground turkey but it said chubs ground chicken and I have no idea what that means. I'm a vegan and don't have clue what this means. Is it okay to feed chicken backs and ground chicken? I usually feed chicken backs since it's so cheap and ground turkey. I've never done chicken backs and ground chicken. Thoughts?

it's basically a low grade usually high fat food for people. It looks like it was ground 3x over which makes the consistancy a little pate' ish. Like a Natures' balance roll only in shape. Usually the ones I've run into don't have bones included as they're sold like cheap ground meat that I'd normally use for tacos, chili, making sausage with something dry like antelope, or burgers that I was ok with alot of shrink on.
I'm a member of SoCalBARF and Melissa is correct. A chub is like the ground hamburger meat you can buy in the grocery store which is in plastic and is shaped like a tube.
FYI, if you have questions about the SoCalBARF products you can get a really good response from the person in charge and other members who actually use the product by going to the message board at http://www.network54.com/Forum/216432/. When you click on the product some provide descriptions - the one you're looking for says "mechanically separated fine ground chicken".
As another FYI if you're interested, a couple of the most popular items sold through the group are Pork Brisket Bones and Chicken Backs.
