Im so glad I was right with Kane the other day.He was eating his meal of tripe, chicken hearts an egg, beef neck bones, and yogourt, when he came running to me panting. He had a flat part of the bone he tried to eat down stuck on the roof of his mouth.I was a bit nervous to remove it but he let me ...it took a bit of time (slimey yuck) but I got it!!! I was relieved and he was so happy, he took my forearm in his mouth and made some funny vocal puppyish sounds, i think next time Ill cut those softer bones smaller ....phew!!!!!,,
Glad he's okay... Be careful with "cutting bones smaller" people seem to think that's the solution, but it can actually encourage gulping and choking.
My opinion is either GRIND IT FINELY or LEAVE IT WHOLE, with a preference for leaving it whole. sometimes I see people feed chicken neither ground nor whole, just kinda "chopped" into a few neither large nor small pieces... Those dogs are at higher risk for choking, IMO.
