Long story short, I got stuck with 40#s of chicken wings. I'm not sure if I should use them or give them away. I vaguely remember people having issues with chicken wings, maybe. Is it too much fat or too bony? Enoch is 7 months old now and we've never given him chicken wings. It's been chicken necks/backs, turkey necks,and the like.

They are pretty much a lot of fat (skin) and bones for a main RMB. Of course, they "go with" the whole bird, if you feed the bird, either whole or in quarters, etc. Are they whole? Or are they "drummettes"? That's the the thick first section of a chicken wing that resembles a drumstick. Lots of people buy them for BBQ, etc. Is that what the box was?

And a few are fine for a fat-and-bone increase, say, for some chunks of meaty low-fat breast for dogs ...... Kinda depends on what you feed.

I personally love them as a great calcium sop when trying a new mushy protein source like fish or a dog new to raw eggs which can result in some epic squishy poo. Lots of calcium, lots of fat, and super digestable. The only thing to worry about is if you have a dog who tries to gulp the whole wing in which case I'd just break it down at the joints and let the dog gulp those chunks which should go down fairly smoothly. In my house we just add a little grind or chunk on chicken wing night and set some aside for hotwings for the human crowd.

It's a lot of fat (skin) and bone for a first raw food, and it seems to be suggested for that a lot. Well, and I wouldn't use it as the main RMB food. Bu you are not saying anything like that. Duh.

Basically I have 40#s I don't know what to do with. Hopefully someone in my co-op will want to buy it off of me. The box said chicken breast trimmings but when I opened it up it was chicken wing tips.

Just take note of what was said and be sure to add MEAT. Make sure they are of a size that either goes down quick and easy or big enough to require work and effort. Pay attention to stools and adjust as necessary.

It's their favorite cut to chew. Seriously I wouldn't pawn them off. I personally would just add some ground chuck or something else to them and count yourself lucky you got a good source of calcium which you now don't have to pay for some other RMB.

I was hoping for 40#s of chicken breast but I must say I love my new co-op. Just to clarify, ground turkey or ground chicken is considered muscle meat, right? Should I feed the typical ratio of RMBs to muscle meat when using chicken wings or more muscle meat?
