My current GSD is a Show line, I am very happy with him (Temp). He has Elbow Dysplasia, he is only 3.
I do a little bite work with him, however he would lack the drive to do really well in competition (if he was medically ok to do it).
If I do decide to go with another show line, I will probably do some tracking or SAR. If I go in a different direction, I will go Schutzhund (if I was to get working line). I am debating whether I want to do Schutzhund or not.
The breeder said a few of her customers have done Schutzhund with their dogs, and have done fine.
The dogs we had at the dept I worked for were show line import GSDS, and they did fine as K-9's, however I agree that working lines are better for Schutzhund and police work.
