Sometimes a 2nd person accompanies me on a bicycle on my runs. I have noticed that my dog wants to be the 1rst in front, so when that person rides in front of me, he tries to race (despite the prong collar) to be in front of the cyclist. However when the cyclist is riding behind us my GSD waits in front and looks back at the cyclist and waits for her.
So, is it just my imagination or do GSDs herd from the front?
My GSD also likes to take the lead after a practice search as the subject, myself and flankers are walking back to the vehicles. She will occasionally circle back around us to make sure the "flock" is still intact and then take the lead again.
In case the GPS decides to die, it's kind of nice knowing she will always get us back to the vehicles.
