Is there any way...some kind of code or software...to protect a web site from web crawlers? We have the usual security measures in place but it doesn't seem to be stopping them.
I've spent the last 3 weeks going after sites that are listing and/or using our company's name without our authorization or approval. In some cases it's been just egregious...screenshots of our web site, a complete misrepresentation of who we are and what we do, copying language from our web site...and changing the language!
For every Takedown Notice I send that results in a removal, 2 more new listings appear somewhere else.
And the attitudes I've bumped into! Man, some of these people are the most arrogant b@$t@rds I've ever run across...bristling, quoting the law to me until I push harder then...voila...the listing comes down. Guess they weren't on such firm legal ground after all.
If there is anything out there to prevent this I sure would appreciate hearing about it.
