I was just looking at some pedigrees and noticed that my mothers gsd had a AKC number that is DN######### and my gsd is DL#########. I searched google but couldn't find if this DN or DL means anything. If anyone knows I would appreciate them sharing. Thanks!

As I understand it it's a letter series that identifies breed, followed by the litter number for the breed, followed by the individual number followed by the number in the litter. My papillons are TR#########/##.
I'm not sure why the letters would change. You might email or call akc for that answer.
DN is the new DL ;-) Once there are so many registrations I believe the AKC changes one of the letters. I have ACDs and somewhere between 2002 and 2007 they changed it from DL to DN as my youngest is a DN #.
