I would like to see statistics compiled on the number of violent offenders, their offense(s) carried out with or without a gun, who have their CCW. This is not something that criminals seek out.
I believe that answer HAS to speak volumes to anti-gun lobbyist.
Maybe it has already been done and nobody listened.
i think its preposterous when a politician who has *armed* body guards protecting them 24/7 has the audacity to be anti-gun.
in some states the CC permits are cost and/or time prohibitive to even get. here in NM its a 3 day course and costs around $800. they do not take into account military service (which should waive requirement of taking the course). they also should make it roughly the same cost as obtaining a driver's license. but this is the anti-gun folks' way of making it a PIA since so far (here) they have not been able to remove the option altogether....
hopefully the outcome of this election will not further endanger our 2nd amdt rights.

I thank God I live in a free state where our state constitution is strong on personal protection and gun rights. As long as you are not a convicted felon you can get a license to carry and you can carry open with no license.
To me a politicians respect for the 2A says a lot about which direction their moral compass points.
The only thing needed for evil to exist is for good men to stand by and do nothing!!!
they do not take into account military service (which should waive requirement of taking the course).
I dunno, have you SEEN some soldiers at the range?
The whole idea of ANYONE taking a class baffles me.
We don't have a class here in Washington. Fill out one form, submit finger prints, pay the fee, and check your mailbox in two weeks.
haha...well at least one could assume they would know basic handling of a firearm....
washington has it right & PA too! in NM, it is only a 4th decree misdemenaor if you are caught with a CW and no CW permit, which amounts to a traffic ticket (certainly cheaper than 3 days off work and the class fee)!
i sure wish illinois had a right to carry law, and this is comming from a law enforment officer. we have a high robery rate here lately and i know alot of criminals who now are seeing easy victims would think twice when they know some of them WILL have a gun and use it if need be. jmo
I don't know about that Jeffery.
I think you'd be facing alot more horrific scenes as an officer.
I mean think about it. If you're a low life scum, you think, 'I'm going to take that mans/womens money, they my be armed, f*%k it, I'll just off them from the git go. Clean and easy.'
As a police officer you may face more than you bargin for.
These reptiles have no value for the life of anything, they generally will take the path of least resistance. So how do you think they'll respond if they think everyone is armed?
