So my Doberman is now 10 months old. I have had him since he was 12 weeks. I don't really have a problem, more of a question. It seems to me that he really does not want anything to do with other people besides me or my girlfriend. He is not aggressive towards anyone or anything like that, he just seems to be content with giving friends/family a sniff and then staying by my side. Is this normal for a Doberman?

Yes, very normal. Dobes were bred originally to be a one man dog; fiercely loyal and protective of their one handler. Their temperaments have softened somewhat since the beginning of the breed, but it is still very common for them to love their whole family, but prefer one person, and be aloof to and/or suspicious of strangers. It's one of my favorite characteristics of the breed: They generally are very attentive and good at tuning out everything but "their" person.
